SKIN FOOD From the Inside Out!

We're all looking for magical ways to make our skin brighter, healthier, and more beautiful. There's no need to spend hundreds of dollars on some special serum or moisturizer when nature has it's miracles! These are the Top 5 Foods for your skin that you can eat any time, any where, without having to spend tons of money!

Lemon

I've talked about how amazing lemon is for you. Whether it's in your water, or you use it in recipes as a strong superfood, it's great for you! It's also really good for your skin. It's antioxidant properties can reduce inflammation, and the Vitamin C in it also promotes the synthesis of collagen in your skin; clearing acne and brightening your skin. This is included in the top foods for your skin list for all of these reasons and more.

For a quick fix, use this simple mixture once a week as an exfoliator. Try a quick mixture of sea salt, grapeseed oil, tea tree oil, and lemon juice and rub it (softly!) into your skin. Rinse with warm water and pat dry, then use shea butter or coconut oil to moisturize. Your skin will be clearer than ever!

How to Use:

You can use lemons in your water, or even directly on your skin. Or you can incorporate them into a variety of delicious recipes:

Tomatoes

The best way to heal your skin is from within! Tomatoes contain an antioxidant known as lycopene which also has natural sunscreen properties and can protect your skin from harmful UV rays when ingested. The acidity in tomatoes can also help clear acne and brighten your skin! It can also act as an astringent if your skin is excessively oily. Add a little bit of tomato juice from a fresh tomato to a cotton ball and use on a clean face!

How To Use:

I use tomatoes in pretty much everything. From a pasta sauce to a full on tomato soup. Check my personal recipes below:

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are full of zinc which help promote new skin cells. We use millions of dead skin cells everyday, so these delicious little morsels will help recreate fresh beautiful ones! Pumpkin seeds also contain selenium which can protect your skin from environmental pollution as well as harsh UV rays thanks to the upgrade they give to your collagen!

How to Use:

Grab a handful as a quick snack, make pumpkin seed butter, or top your favorite soup, salad, or sandwich with these! Toast them with spices for extra flavor!

Carrots📷

Carrots are great for your eyes, and your skin! Carrots are really high in beta carotene which then gets converted to Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps fight wrinkles and gives your skin a healthy boost! Carrots also contain Vitamin C, which gives the collagen in your skin a boost. This helps your skin feel and look brighter, and more alive!

How to Use:

Eat carrots with your favorite healthy dip such as hummus, add them into your stews and soups, or grate/shred them and add them to salads!

Sweet Potatoes📷

Sweet potatoes aren't just delicious, they're good for your skin! Sweet potatoes have natural antioxidant properties, and they contain Vitamin A that helps defeat the acne-creating bacteria. They're also naturally anti-inflammatory, which can reduce the redness and appearance of acne. Sweet potatoes also contain Vitamin C, which, like previously mentioned, helps boost collagen and smoothes skin.

How to Use:

Instead of eating regular potatoes, swap out for sweet potatoes whenever you can! They have a lower glycemic index, which means they're better for you in more ways than just skin care.
